Wilcox Public Library Board and Staff

The Wilcox Public Library was founded in 1963 by a group of volunteers dedicated to the educational, social and cultural enrichment of our community.  When the Wilcox School District was dissolved, funds from the PTO were used to create the library and until 2002 (when the library became a state-aided facility), it was operated by volunteers.  The library originally was housed in the old Barratt Building, on the corner of Marvin Street and Clarion Street, until it moved into the old post office building, on the corner of Marvin Street and Buchanan Street in 1989.  The library was housed in this building until the Wilcox Public Library Board of Directors, the Jones Township Supervisors, the Wilcox Area Development Committee, the Elk County Commissioners and the Elk County Planning Department worked together to get funding to renovate the Barratt Building (the building that housed the library originally).  The renovations were completed December 2008 and the library opened its doors at the new location January 2009.

The Wilcox Public Library is always looking for upstanding residents willing to volunteer time performing various tasks to help keep our institution running smoothly.  If you are interested in volunteering some time please call us or stop in at the library to find out details.
